Parker University is a co-educational institution chartered by the State of Texas. It holds non-profit 501(c) (3) status with the Internal Revenue Service, so donations may be tax-deductible.

Accreditation agencies are listed with the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Parker University is also recognized by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, by the Veterans Administration, and by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

College of Business and Technology - Programmatic Accreditation

The Health Information Management accreditor of Parker University is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs ( upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The associate-degree-level Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Parker University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 6116 Executive Boulevard, Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852-4929. After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). In addition, all states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. Note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination and/or attain state licensure.
